Meet the team

Karen Bennett

Karen is an ambitious entrepreneur who started Affinity Homecare in Aberystwyth back in 2010.

Alongside her business partner, she grew the business over a 7 year period, to 4 regional offices which included Newtown, Wilmslow and Shrewsbury employing around 120 carers covering just under 2500 hours of care per week. 

In 2015 Karen decided to concentrate on the Shrewsbury office and was bought out of the 2 Welsh offices. 

In 2016, the Wilmslow and Shrewsbury offices were split and Karen continues to run and build this office with the help of her fantastic team. 

Melissa Morgan
Registered Manager

Melissa passed her Level 3 Health and Social Care and formerly worked in care homes. This led her to domiciliary care where she started her career as a Carer, working her way up to Deputy Manager and more recently, Compliance Manager.

Melissa joined Affinity in October 2017 firstly as Deputy Manager before progressing to Registered Branch Manager. Melissa believes in treating all clients and staff with respect whilst encouraging them to be their better self. She is currently working through NVQ Level 5 in Health and Social Care and has a knowledge and skill set that enables her to safely manage her team of staff. Melissa is a driven individual and enjoys the challenges that come with working in home care.

Dawn Collins
Field Quality Coordinator

Dawn started her career in Catering Management but after completing college she started volunteering for people with learning disabilities and worked with the homeless.  This led her to Domiciliary Care.

Dawn joined Affinity in 2017 as Care Coordinator and supports Carers to be the best they can be, watching them grow and develop in their roles.  

She says that Care has enriched her life, given her a sense of worth and that nothing is more rewarding than enabling the people she supports to live with dignity, respect, promoting their independence to remain in their own homes. 

Andrea Pugh
Recruitment & Social Media officer
Andrea started her career in domiciliary care eight years ago under an apprenticeship. Initially, she worked in recruitment and emergency respite referrals before deciding she also wanted to be a Carer in the community. Andrea has continued to gain experience within the Care industry and had recently focused primarily on Special Educational Needs & Behavioural Education and residential services.

However, Andrea felt her heart always belonged in domiciliary care and in November 2020 joined the team at Affinity Homecare Shrewsbury as our Recruitment and Social Media Officer.

As well as recruiting and supporting new carers with their induction to the company Andrea will also be seen out in the field getting to know all our clients and existing staff. 

Andrea said 'I will never forget my first shadow shift at the age of 19, I knew from that moment that I would always be ready to put on a tunic and help those more in need and help others see the amazing career they could have working in health and social care.'
Di Peatroy
Office Administrator
Di joined Affinity Homecare in September 2020, as our office administrator.

A diverse administrative career spanning 35 years, Di has a wealth of knowledge and experience and will be the first point of contact for general inquiries and administrative support. 

She has joined us to further enhance the office team with all office administration duties.

Over the coming months, we will be introducing more tasks and skills to her workload, to increase her knowledge of the care industry.

Di will be supporting the office from 9 am to 3 pm, Monday to Friday and is ready to assist you.
Tracy Abbott
Company Trainer
Tracy joined Affinity in 2017 as a Senior Care Assistant.  

Tracy started working in hospitals from the age of 19, such as Royal Berkshire Hospital in Reading for seven years, and worked in residential homes in senior care roles. She has worked with spinal injury and dementia patients, those with learning difficulties and the elderly in their own homes.

Tracy completed her Health & Social Care NVQ Level 2 and Level 3 and following her career in the NHS, she completed her Medication Level 2 and further qualifications through Shrewsbury College. 

As a Senior Care Worker, Tracy diligently looked after her own clients and supported other carers in emergency situations.

Tracy went on to complete her 'Train The Trainer' course and is our in-house Affinity trainer. 
Helen Firminger
Company Trainer

Helen joined Affinity in July 2017 as our company trainer.

Following a career in nursery nursing she retrained and now holds Training certificates in First Aid, Health and Safety, Manual Handling, Infection Control, safeguarding, Mental Capacity, Food Hygiene and Medication Awareness.

Helen says she loves watching the carers careers grow from that first moment she spends with them in the office to hearing and seeing their progression with the Company.
